Dreaming of Warmer Weather - 3/25/22

We had a gorgeous afternoon up in the 60's here in central New York, and I took the opportunity to do a little cleanup around the property.   Unfortunately the nice weather isn't here to stay yet ... we're expecting snow on Sunday.  Even though puzzle from Canada's Alberta province is archived, and has a broken checker, I still had some fun with it this evening while thinking about Spring:

Superb Owl - 3/15/22

Today's puzzle takes us to Canada's province of British Columbia.  We had a gorgeous sunny morning today, and it felt warm even though there was still plenty of snow still on the ground.  The birds were happy to be out and about and I heard a lot of them singing. I'm not that good at identifying bird calls, but think I could identify a:

Happy π Day! - 3/14/22

Today's puzzle takes us to Tennessee.  I will always remember 3/14/20 as the last "normal" day I had before the beginning of the pandemic.  I had a choir practice for a performance we were planning for the next day, which ended up being cancelled.  This weekend it was a joy for me to be able to sing with the choir again for the first time since that day:

Cold Heart - 3/6/22

Today's puzzle takes us to the U.K.  I've been a fan of Elton John's work for a long time, but there is a lot of his catalog outside of the "greatest hits" that I'm not familiar with. Thus I've ended up being rather confused recently when the radio plays his recent song:

Accrual World - 3/3/22

Today's puzzle takes us to New York City. I may have the opportunity to travel there next month, and I'm having fun reliving my previous caching adventures there and looking for more potential targets that have popped up in the nearly 6 years since I was there.   As much as I am enjoying having something to look forward to, I can't stop thinking about the sad news that keeps coming out of Ukraine.  It's:

A First, and a Last! - 3/2/22

Today's puzzle takes us to Germany.  Back in January of 2021 my students and I were all so happy to be able to start meeting in person again once a week that we didn't complain too much about having to wear masks to do so.  Since then more and more of my classes have gone back to meeting in person, but until Tuesday morning I hadn't been able to teach one maskless.  I'm working at two different campuses right now, and while teaching at the second one in the afternoon, masked, I learned that they are dropping their requirement for masks tomorrow. I know that this may all change again at any moment, but I am crossing my fingers that I've taught my last class while masked!

I'm not sure how many of you may have noticed this, but there's a funny thing I've found is happening when I see someone without their mask for the first time: I tend to feel like they don't look like what I had thought they would.  Somehow my brain has filled in details of what I "think" they should look like without their mask, and then when I actually see them without it my brain feels very confused because the reality is different that what I was subconsciously expecting.  I'm looking forward to find out what more of my students actually do look like:
