Go Dodgers! - 10/25/24

With our beloved Minnesota Twins out of the baseball playoffs, I decided to root for the team I followed closely as a kid.  I started watching baseball and became a Dodger fan in 1977.   Although we moved had away before I turned a year old, it seemed natural to follow the team closest to where I was born since there wasn't a team close to where we lived.  They proceeded to get to the World Series that year and the next (losing to the Yankees both years and launching my lifelong willingness to cheer for any team playing against them), and then again in 1981 and 1988 (winning both, the first against the Yankees). It was quite some time before I realized how fortunate it was to get to the Fall Classic so often. In honor of this year's team and all the great former Dodgers I'm re-sharing this early puzzle of mine which featured both my husband's and my favorite players:

In Memoriam - 10/24/24

I learned early this morning that one of my good (albeit distant) geocaching friends had passed away.  His puzzles have been featured here regularly over the years, so please don't be surprised if I am tempted to revisit some of them in the coming days.  He wasn't only a top notch puzzler, but had a great sense of humor and an incredibly generous spirit.  This is the puzzle that launched our ten-year long history of correspondence, conversations, mutual beta-testing, and two super trips I took to Ohio.  Rest well, my friend.

Y are you a Mets Fan? - 10/7/24

I watched a lot of baseball this summer, and was disappointed to see our favorite team swoon in the last month of the season and fall out of the playoffs just before the season ended.  But at least we're not White Sox fans.  They lost even more games this year than the 1962 squad from team featured in this Minnesota puzzle (who have made it to the division series):
