Rear Window - 12/19/13

Earlier this year I had the chance to visit the virtual cache "It's a Wonderful Life," and I expect many people are enjoying that movie for the umpteenth time this year.  Jimmy Stewart has always been one of my favorite actors ... I think I first saw him on TV in "No Highway in the Sky," playing a scientist convinced that an airplane's tail was going to fall off.  Today's Pennsylvania puzzle features another of his classic movies:

A Merry Xmas on Christmas Island - 12/18/13

If you've been following this blog for very long you'll know that I happen to love holiday-themed puzzles.  As such, it shouldn't come as a surprise to hear that I was tickled to come across a puzzle located on Christmas Island entitled:

A Merry Xmas

P.S.  If you don't remember exactly where Christmas Island is, click on the map on the cache page and zoom out.  It was quite a surprise to me to see that geocaching.com reports its location as being 10,219.1 miles north from my home location in New York(!)  I guess that's one way to think about it.

I enjoyed writing holiday-themed puzzles in 2011 and 2012 for our monthly puzzle series, and even though we didn't keep up the puzzle of the month this year, I thought it would be fun to continue this part of the tradition, perhaps prompting central New York puzzlers to say:
