At a recent geocaching event I had a CO ask me if I had ever heard of a "ditloid" puzzle.  I didn't understand the acronym, but it turned out I was familiar with this type of riddle. It was fun meeting the CO and learning the history behind ditloids with today's Pennsylvania puzzle:

Circling the Drain - 2/10/14

Some days it seems like my brain gets into high gear.  Homer dances, green lights appear, and "success" comes easily.  I wish I had more days like that.  Other times it seems like I struggle to solve anything, and even two star puzzles seem beyond my capability.  I found today's Minnesota puzzle during a recent slump when I felt like my brain was:

What Peeves You? - 2/9/14

Part of today's puzzle states, "Puzzles have a way of dividing an audience."  Isn't that the truth?  There are plenty of people who won't do puzzles at all, but even within the puzzling crowd there can be a wide variety of opinions about the merits of a particular puzzle.  What peeves me is when people write logs complaining about not liking a puzzle, or calling it a "guess what I'm thinking" puzzle.  People work very hard constructing their puzzles and if a constructive criticism is warranted, it could be sent to the CO privately rather than posted for the world to see.   As my mother always said, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."   That's my two cents.  I'm hoping today's puzzle won't leave you saying:

I'm So Peeved!

License & Registration, Please! - 2/4/14

Today's puzzle is from Arizona.  It seems that many cachers have tales of being stopped by law-enforcement while caching.  I haven't been stopped while caching, but recently had my own encounter on my way to a geo-event.   After missing the entrance to to the park for a night event on the far outskirts of town I performed a carefully-executed U-turn to get back where I needed to be.  Flashing red lights in my rear view mirror quickly ensued.  I was fortunate to escape with only a warning and an admonishment to use better judgement in the future.  Shew!  I hope it's a long time before I once again hear the words:
