Dollar Dance - 6/30/15

June is a common month for weddings (you might recall I was a June bride myself) so I thought I'd wrap up the month's puzzles with today's California puzzle with a title that reminded me of a wedding theme:

What a State - 6/29/15

I had heard this news was coming, but got confirmation over the weekend that the latest book featuring retired F.B.I. agent and fellow geocacher Cliff Knowles (by retired F.B.I. agent and fellow geocacher The Rat) is now available.  My understanding is that geocaching is not featured as much as in the previous books, but for those of you like me that have come to enjoy reading about his crime-solving exploits as much as his geocaching ones, more details are available here.

It was great fun meeting up with the author himself during my recent visit to California, and I enjoyed being able to make finds on quite a few of his caches.  There were many more I would like to have been able to get to ... so many caches, so little time:

Definitely Chocolate. - 6/28/15

I've always been a fan of chocolate ice cream and variations on that theme - chocolate peanut butter, chocolate marshmallow, etc.  In fact, until reading some of the examples in today's California puzzle, I would have thought I'd like pretty much any variation of chocolate ice cream.:

As I indicated in the note I wrote for today's New York puzzle, although I haven't seen them for a while I am very familiar with the folks mentioned in:

The British are Coming! - 6/25/15

While I had solved a spin-off of this California cache (without realizing it) years ago, I only recently gave this one a try.  I was unaware of the subject matter, and had fun puzzling through:

This Kache is Kool - 6/24/15

Today's puzzle is from California.  Not long ago the circus was here in Ithaca.  My son saw the tent as we drove by and asked me about it.  We had taken the kids when they were pretty little and I think he remembered some of it, but I don't think he had though it was:

Catching up with Charlie - 6/23/15

Today's California cache is one of several I recently had the pleasure of finding while on a guided tour of the area with the owner.  I could have sworn I had solved this one a long time ago, but since I didn't have my notes (and my name wasn't in the checker) I had some work to do to get caught up with:

A Secret Touch - 6/22/15

I've just returned from a week-long puzzle caching vacation in California's San Francisco Bay Area.  I've still got a lot of work to do to get caught up on my logs, but I had a wonderful time, met a lot of great puzzlers (and very nice people) and was able to make the finds on some puzzles that I'd had in the solved pile for years.  The puzzle solving kept going in the days leading right up to the trip, and there were a few I even needed to work on after I got back. As for today's puzzle, you'll see it requires a:

A Rhino on Second Base? - 6/20/15

I used to watch an awful lot of baseball, and started following the Cubs when my favorite Dodger Ron Cey (the"Penguin") started playing for them.  His arrival at third base caused a young rookie to be moved to second base.  I guess if you've got a penguin at third, it makes perfect sense to put your rhino on second.  In Today's Maryland puzzle:

Today's puzzle from Washington state was brought to my attention by a fellow Ithacan who will be traveling out there for the final Geocaching "Block Party" in August.  I'm wishing him:

What a great idea! - 6/14/15

I had a thought that it might be fun to visit Paris for a puzzle today, in honor of Bastille Day.  What a great idea! or, as they might say there:

Quelle belle idée!

OK, I'm embarrassed to admit I've been informed I was a month early on this ... I *knew* the right date ...  had a brain cramp, I guess!  We'll just have to return to Paris next month.  :)

Black Dog - 6/13/15

Today's puzzle is from Rhode Island.  Over the last 5 years our geodog "K" has been lucky to be the beneficiary of our neighbor's fenced-in yard and regular playtime with her dog, grand-dog, and another neighbor's dog.  Although they're all getting older now, we still call it the "black puppy club" because they are all black dogs, with only a little bit of white or gray.  Not long ago another puppy moved to the neighborhood ... you guessed it, another:

Don't Get Skunked - 6/12/15

Today's puzzle from Canada's province of British Columbia is part of a series that someone asked me about recently. I got sucked in and found it a lot of fun (but very time-consuming, so consider yourself warned!).  "Skunk Tales" is an inter-related series of complex puzzle caches, and it sounds like the finds themselves are pretty amazing as well. I started at:

A Triple Crown! - 6/7/15

I had to feature today's Texas puzzle in honor of American Pharoah (yes, that's how it's spelled) winning horse racing's Triple Crown yesterday.  I have been hoping to see a horse manage to do that for a long time now.  I'm so glad it didn't turn out to be another one of those:

National Donut Day (one day late) - 6/6/15

Today we visit a puzzle in Wisconsin, although it would have been better suited to yesterday, when  apparently I missed commemorating "National Donut Day."  I saw it on the "news" feed on my phone, and it helped me understand an earlier mass e-mail I'd gotten from the head of the campus police where I work which stated, "Thank you for thinking of us today, but it is not an official law enforcement holiday." :)   Seriously, though, in honor of all law enforcement officers here's a big thank you:

Silver Anniversary - 6/2/15

Today's Rhode Island puzzle is a perfect one for me to share today, as we're celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary.  I was still pretty young back then - had just graduated from college 3 weeks before.  It's a good thing it wasn't just:

Puppy Love

I'm very sorry that last Friday's puzzle turned out to be currently unsolvable ... I had it in the solved pile for a while and hadn't realized things had changed.  It was a very good one ...

Now that the Season is Over - 6/1/15

I had fun meeting the CO of today's North Carolina puzzle at Geowoodstock (I can always find plenty to talk about with a fellow puzzler!)  For those of us whose lives revolve around the academic calendar, summer is a great time for traveling and caching and celebrating the end of the year   I'm thoroughly enjoying the much slower pace of things:
