Today we travel to Utah. I was just talking to someone last week about National Puzzle Day coming up on 1/29, and then I forgot to mention it here. So I hope you'll allow me to wish you a rather belated Happy:

So far I've only had to be out in one nasty snowstorm this winter, but it's been COLD, so the snow we have gotten is sticking around. It sounds like the East coast (at least the "coastal" East coast) is in for quite a bit of snow this weekend, so someone sent me this Long Island (NY) puzzle as an appropriate one to share with you today:
What to do when there's snow... Puzzle!

I can't recall how this one came to my attention, but let's travel to California for a lesson in:

Today finds us in California. I have a puzzle that is similar to this one (but not identical) and know that it takes some thought to put this kind together. I always appreciate puzzles that are at least as difficult to create as to solve. As for this one:

Today's Arkansas puzzle dropped into my inbox on Monday, and I knew it would be a nice one to share with you. Have some fun with these:

Today's puzzle takes us to Denmark. One of the delightful little Easter eggs in the MIT mystery hunt this year was a short video featuring Weird Al Yankovic (spoiler alert ... the video does reveal a puzzle answer). One of the writing team, puzzle maker Eric Berlin (whom I've mentioned here before) had collaborated with him on a New York Times crossword puzzle (4/4/2018) and got him to participate. People's reactions were so fun to watch: "Is that ... really ... HIM??" 😮 Have some fun with:

Have you caught the Wordle bug? I've been waiting to see if any new geocaching puzzles might publish with that theme. My efforts to find one last week led me to a 2012 series in Spain. You'll see at that time there was a different meaning for:

Today's puzzle was hot off the presses this morning, and I was tickled to be able to rush out and get the FTF, despite the cold weather we're having right now. I haven't cached much during COVID and I think my last FTF might have been during the summer of 2019. Try your luck with:

Well, the big Mystery Hunt is in the books for the year, and it was a lot of fun. Although we were far short of winning, my (very large) team did complete the hunt, just in the nick of time before HQ closed!
Tomorrow we'll be in Nebraska.
If all goes as planned, by the time this post publishes I should be fully involved in this year's MIT puzzle hunt* which is being conducted fully remotely again this year. I chose today's Iowa puzzle in honor of last year's winning team, which is in charge of writing this year's hunt:
Tomorrow we'll ...
*If you're unfamiliar with this hunt, here is an article about the last in-person event back in 2020, which I attended in person. This has nothing to do with geocaching, but I consider it the rough equivalent of the Olympics of puzzling ... except when you participate you can be right there working alongside some of the best puzzlers in the world. Even in my younger days my talents lay more in perseverance than in speed or innate ability, so I find the scope and pace of it rather overwhelming, but it is fun.
Today's puzzle from California was passed along to me recently, and I have found this type to be a fun challenge, especially if you can get other folks to think about them with you. In the interest of full disclosure I'll admit that at the time of this writing I haven't completed it all yet, but I won't let that stop me from inviting you to to:

Sometimes when people send me puzzle suggestions I end up also looking at other works by the same CO. That's how I came across today's Oklahoma puzzle which:

Today's puzzle was passed along to me recently, and it's one I actually solved and found several years ago just up the road from me a bit. Take a look at:

P.S. If anybody can find anything close to a Sidney Poitier-themed puzzle, please send it along, as I'd like to honor his passing with a post. I've looked but I'm not completely happy with any of what I've found so far.
This nicely done Minnesota series was passed along to me a while back, but I held off on going through it until recently. It all starts here:

Many thanks to those of you who sent me puzzle suggestions (including the one I'm sharing today). Keep them coming! Let's travel to Canada's province of British Columbia, and the puzzle of the:

Sorry this post is so late in arriving ... I got distracted last night and didn't get it posted. Back when I first started (11 years ago!) I tried to have at least a couple weeks of posts queued up and ready to go. I wish I could get at least a few days ahead. I may start setting up some posts ahead of time with reruns, with the idea of replacing them with new puzzles unless I run out of time (or forget). I hope you'll make a new year's resolution to send me suggestions. They really do help, so the more the better! Let's travel to California and test your logic with:

Today we travel just up the road a bit from me here in New York, where:

Today's puzzle takes us to Minnesota. If you've followed this blog for long, you'll know that our family are big Minnesota Vikings fans. During the other night's (terrible) game in Green Bay, there was a lot of footage shown in memory of John Madden, who passed away last week. I wasn't following the game much during his coaching days, and never played the video game that bears his name, but I remember watching many, many games that he announced (including more than one featuring a multi-legged Thanksgiving turkey). In one way or another, he participated in some of:
*We saw a version of one of these plays (Madden was on the sidelines for the original) in the game the other night! And please don't mention one of the others ... we still call it "Day of Doom" around here.

Today's puzzle takes us to Canada's Ontario province. Like many others, I was saddened to hear of the passing of Betty White on New Year's Eve. While I was very familiar with her roles as the "happy homemaker" and "golden girl," I had missed the one discussed in this puzzle:
