"Bomb" Threat - 1/31/14

Today's puzzle from France includes a game similar to the one featured a few Fridays ago, in that it works best with a group of people playing together, and each person has a limit of what they can contribute each day.  It's even more complicated, however, in that not only does the game reset each day at midnight (in Paris), the target you are seeking relocates each day.  There is no English translation on the cache page, but the CO has given me the green light to summarize the game set-up for you here.

It seems that some unknown cacher became disgruntled after a series of DNF's and has decided to wipe out as many Parisian caches as possible with a bomb.  We have 24 hours to locate the bomb, and our only tool is a "radar" map of Paris.  Each cacher may place one circle on the map, and the "bomb radar" tells whether the bomb is within the circle (it turns green) or not (it turns red).  Everyone can see all of the circles that have been placed that day.  To find the bomb, zoom in as far as possible on the map in an area that is within a green circle, and then right-click.  The coordinates of the position will be tested and you will be informed whether or not you have located the bomb.

Google translate gives reasonably good instructions about how to place and move your circle.  Good luck with:

Boggle Logic - 1/27/14

As a kid growing up I loved playing "Boggle" because it was a game I could manage to be competitive at when playing with my parents and our neighbors.  I had never seen this particular twist on the game until discovering today's Oregon puzzle:

Games on our Shelf: Boggle

Pad Thai - 1/26/14

Today's puzzle is from Canada's province of Manitoba.  I had never eaten Thai food until I was in graduate school, but we now order it pretty regularly and my favorite is the noodle dish Pad Thai.  I've had it with chicken, shrimp, and tofu, but I've never had:

Echolocation - 1/20/14

There are some puzzles that I know I will never get to claim smileys on their caches because they are in places I'm never likely to visit.  The cache for today's puzzle is another I will probably never get to, but it is because the terrain is so tough.  I am pleased to feature it, however, because my hometown of Bristol, Tennessee, plays a starring role in:

Tomorrow we'll pay another virtual visit to Hungary.

You're getting warmer! - 1/17/14

Today's puzzle from France is a high-tech spin on a game you probably played as a child.  As with most children's games, it's more fun if you have some friends to team up with and you all play together.  That's because each person has a limited number of tries per day.   There is no English translation provided, but "google translate" gives the gist of the game pretty well.  (Note: If you can't see the circle you placed at first, try zooming in ... they're small!)  Have some fun with:

Mystery Game #1 : Ça chauffe !
