I was intrigued by an article I came across the other day about airport runway numbers being changed in Las Vegas and Seattle due to shifts in the earth's magnetic field. Although I knew that the earth's magnetic north pole isn't found right at the top of its rotational axis, and that it shifts over time, I hadn't really thought about how those changes could affect navigation.
