Let's Play Two! - 3/30/19
Today's puzzle is one that dropped into my inbox recently, and it takes us to Arkansas, via Australia and Germany. Baseball season is officially underway, so I thought of the words of the great Chicago Cub Ernie Banks: Let's play two! It's:

I Spy Knoxville - 3/24/19
Knoxville, TN holds a special place in my heart, as it's where I met my husband when we lived across the hall at an apartment-style dorm at UT one summer in college when we both did internships at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Here's what my guest blogger this week, Ol'Fogie, had to say about this puzzle he created in his own hometown:
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words… or at Least a Set of Coordinates
The origins of the famous phrase “A picture is worth a thousand words” is very
debatable; just Google it and you’ll see what I mean. I live in Knoxville,TN, and
I’m quite content in my “scruffy little city by the river”, as the Wall Street Journal
dubbed it prior to the 1982 World’s Fair.

So, what do those two things have in common? Well, I present you with a

Saturday Night at the Movies - 3/23/19
Saturday is a great day to spend at the movies, so let's go to the show (that's what my mom always used to say) with Ol'Fogie:
A Night at the Cinema
Today’s Tennessee puzzle takes us to a historic theater. But, you don’t
need to be there to walk down movie lane and figure out the movies in
question. So, as you deduce these cinematic conundrums, grab a drink

What if? - 3/22/19
The puzzle Ol'Fogie has chosen for us today reminds me of thoughts I used to have as a kid ... how could I really know if what I saw as "green" was what somebody else was seeing as "green"? I understand the science better now, but it's still the kind of question that makes me stop and think. Here's what our guest puzzle-picker had to say:
Visible Spectrum?

Let's take another little trip with Ol'Fogie. Here's what he's got for us today:
Another Anagram?!?
We’ve all seen our fair share of anagram caches; they, along with
binary encryptions, are the LPCs and GRs of puzzles. But, this NC

Head Spinning - 3/20/19
My head has been spinning with all the puzzles I've been working on during my "spring" break. I did a crossword puzzle competition on Saturday with a colleague from work and a couple of her relatives and while we did not finish our puzzle quickly, we did finish in the allotted time and had it all correct (and it was hard!). I've also been working on the Galactic Puzzle Hunt which feels harder this year than in years past. It's a good thing Ol'Fogie has sent me a nice crop of posts to share with you. This one is perfect for today:

I'm on "Spring Break" this week (although it was snowing the other night) and am taking a break here as well ... I'm turning over the reigns to Ol'Fogie once again. Here's what he had to say for today:

Happy Birthday, Dad! - 3/15/19
Today's puzzle is an old favorite of mine from California. I chose it in honor of my Dad today because it's his birthday and the puzzle features one of his favorite activities. He enjoyed painting in his youth and has taken it up again recently, but that's not the only reason this one makes me think of him ... to figure out the whole story you'll have to sort out:

Game Day - 3/10/19
Today's puzzle takes us to Rhode Island. This is a day I always enjoy seeing roll around each year. Although I hate losing that hour of sleep I just love having the extra daylight in the early evenings. Even though we still have snow on the ground it makes me feel like Spring cannot be that far away. Baseball spring training has started and March madness is right around the corner. Dicey Situations - 3/8/19
Quite a while back I discovered a humorous set of puzzle caches in Canada's Alberta province featuring a CO who seemed to have all kinds of misadventures. I think one of my favorites was this
Dicey Situation which I featured way back in 2013. But if you've already seen that one you can move on to:
Jbeck2's Second Attempt At An Elegant Cache
(Note ... these both have broken checkers but I think you'll know if you've got them).
Looks like I didn't push the "publish" button on this one. Rats! Sorry for the late post.

Doggone Fun - 3/6/19
Today's puzzle takes us a little over an hour up the road from me to the Syracuse, NY area. I had fun yesterday evening in just that neck of the woods having dinner with and attending a 50,000th cache find celebration for the CO of today's featured cache. It was a nice party, very well-attended, and I got to see a lot of folks I hadn't seen in quite a while. I do wish I'd been able to stay and visit longer. But since snow was threatening and I'd had a long day with another one on tap tomorrow Ithacadoodle and I had to head out early. Even so it was still:

Brand new computer - 3/5/19
Well, my old laptop computer didn't exactly die over the weekend, but it does feel like it's on life support so I'm preparing this post on a spiffy new one. I should have known that after a hard fall where it pitched off the table onto its side and cracked the case a while back that it wouldn't last too long. A couple weeks ago it started making a horrible noise that persisted for a little bit even after I shut it down, and as of yesterday the right-hand hinge was stuck and the frame around the screen was being held together with tape and a clamp. So with all the chaos involved in procuring a new one and getting it set up, I was lucky to get a puzzle ready for you for today. This one's from Illinois. Guess I'd better put the:

I remember when going to the mailbox used to be exciting. I always looked forward to seeing what might arrive. These days we hardly ever get anything besides bills and advertising circulars. Snow Over Vegas - 3/2/19
I was amused by the photographs of Las Vegas during a recent, very unusual, snowfall.
I'm certainly glad I hadn't planned a winter getaway there during all of that. We get enough of it here at home. This Nevada puzzle from 2005 was passed along to me a while back, so let's make our own visit there today:

It's been a while since I featured a nice juicy puzzle for a Friday, but I've got one for you today. This one takes us to Ohio, and a puzzle that was created as a group solve for what sounds like a fun puzzling event. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to this one, but I still have very fond memories of the one I attended last summer. Have some fun with:
